Community Ministry

The people of All Saints reach out in many ways to serve the Great Neck community. The outreach ministries are run by parishioners, outside volunteers, and in the case of the pre-school, by the paid staff.

Announcements:

Save The Date:  A Memorial Service to mark the Tenth Anniversary of the tragic attack on the World Trade Center will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at the Jonathan Ielpi Park on Grace Avenue

Second Time Around Shop & Book Nook sells used clothing, bric a brac, pictures and thousands of books. Needy people from the community are often outfitted free of charge. We have a second thrift shop on Middle Neck Rd, near the church.

Saint Nick Day PictureStrawberry Festival is held on the first or second Saturday of June. There are booths of flowers, jewelry, food of all kind and, of course, strawberries in many presentations. This is truly a community event.

Blessing of the Animals takes place the Sunday after Easter and is attended by people from all over Long Island with their pets. It is a celebration of God’s love for all creatures great and small.

All Saints Sunday: Each year, during the first week of November, we sponsor a Sunday of remembrance, thanksgiving and healing. At All Saints, we mark this as a day of celebration - not mourning - as we give thanks to God for those with whom we have had the opportunity to share life and love and are now at rest. We will be offering special prayers to God for the life and to the memory of all our loved ones departed and most especially for those who have been interred here at All Saints Cemetery. A catered reception will be offered following the service.

Great Neck Pre-School is a nonsectarian school for children aged 2-4 years old. The school provides a safe, loving environment for children to grow and develop in their own way. It is a place where children have fun and grow intellectually as well as socially. The school offers a wide selection of fun and rewarding hands-on learning activities. The classes are small with low child to teacher ratios. We have a dedicated, experienced staff. The classrooms are bright and spacious. The school runs year-round with an optional summer program. It is open from 8am to 3pm, Monday through Friday. Great Neck Pre-School is fully accredited by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.

Youth Group: The GEM Youth Group is comprised of young people who share time in participating in meetings, worship, social and recreational activities. The Youth Group meets every other week at 12noon in the Ministry Center. Our youth group provides teenagers with a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in which they can grow in Christ while sharing new experiences and having fun. These young people also participate in outreach programs and off site trips which afford them the opportunity to make new discoveries while living out their baptismal covenant. Our youth group programs are open to all young people in the community.

Christmas Bazaar and Visit by St. Nicholas is held in early December. This indoor event features vendor booths, dedicated to the selling of boutique Christmas items, jewelry, baked goods. There are activities for children and youth in addition to a visit from St. Nick.
